Job Description

An OT technician in an IVF center prepares the operating room, assists during procedures like egg retrieval or embryo transfer, maintains sterile conditions, and provides post-operative patient care. Key duties include setting up equipment, handling instruments, monitoring patient vitals, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure. Key responsibilities

Pre-operative preparation:

Set up the operating theatre, including all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies. Ensure all equipment, such as lights and anesthesia machines, is in good working order. Prepare the patient according to pre-procedure checklists and clinician instructions. Confirm that necessary consent forms are completed.

Intra-operative assistance:

Provide technical and direct assistance to surgeons and the surgical team during procedures. Pass instruments, supplies, and other equipment to the surgical team as needed. Assist with patient positioning, scrubbing, and draping. Monitor patient vital signs during the procedure and report any abnormalities to the anesthetist or clinician.

Post-operative care and recovery:

Assist in shifting the patient to the recovery area. Monitor patients in the recovery room and provide care as needed. Handle and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

Maintenance and safety:

Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infection. Clean and disinfect surgical equipment and the operating room after each procedure. Ensure all instruments and equipment are clean, functional, and properly maintained. Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain records of equipment and supplies. Follow and ensure compliance with all safety guidelines, such as universal precautions and biomedical hazard protocols
