Job Title:

OT Technician - Eye Hospital

Job Summary:

The OT Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operation theatre for ophthalmic surgeries, assisting surgeons during procedures, ensuring sterilization of instruments, and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery, ensuring all required ophthalmic instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready. Assist ophthalmic surgeons during procedures such as cataract, LASIK, corneal, glaucoma, and retinal surgeries. Handle surgical instruments with care and maintain proper sterilization protocols. Ensure safe positioning and preparation of patients before and during surgery. Monitor OT equipment (microscopes, phacoemulsification machines, cautery, suction machines, etc.) and report malfunctions immediately. Maintain records of surgeries, consumables, and sterilization cycles. Follow infection control practices and ensure a sterile environment at all times. Dispose of biomedical waste as per hospital and government guidelines. Provide support in post-operative patient shifting and recovery area management. Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff for smooth workflow in the OT.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma/Certificate in OT Technology or relevant field (special preference for ophthalmology experience). Knowledge of ophthalmic surgical instruments and machines. Strong understanding of sterilization and infection control practices. Ability to remain calm and focused during critical situations. Good communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.

Experience:

1-3 years

of experience as an OT Technician (preferably in an Eye Hospital/ophthalmology setup).
