OT Support Engineer L2

Experience

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1) Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of OT system malfunctions and performance issues
2) Program and debug PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta) and perform logic modifications as required
3) Design, develop, and maintain HMI and SCADA applications for industrial process control
4) Integrate field-level devices with SCADA systems using industrial communication protocols
Support and configure industrial gateways, I/O modules (analog/digital), PID loops, relays, servo drives, and VFDs
5)Coordinate and support MES integration with OT infrastructure
6) Analyze system logs, alarms, and device diagnostics for identifying and resolving system-level faults

Maintain comprehensive documentation including:

1 )BRDs (Business Requirement Documents)
2) Control system architecture
3) Configuration reports
4) User manuals and change logs
5) Host APIs and support database interactions for OT-IT communication
6) Write scripts (e.g., Python) for automation, diagnostics, and data handling tasks
Interface with plant operations, QA, and IT teams for cross-functional troubleshooting
7) Ensure compliance with pharma regulations (GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, audit trails, etc.)

Required Technical Skills:

1) PLC Platforms: Siemens S7-300/1200/1500, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Delta
2) SCADA/HMI Systems: WinCC, FactoryTalk, iFIX, Ignition, or equivalent
3) Protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA/DA, MQTT
4) Field Devices: Servo, VFDs, Analog & Digital IOs, Relays, PID controllers
5) Gateways & Networking: Industrial gateway configuration, IP management, switch-level diagnostics
6) MES Integration: Understanding of MES data flow and integration with shop floor systems
7) Scripting: Basic to intermediate Python (preferred for diagnostics or automation tasks)
8) Databases: SQL or equivalent for storing logs, machine data, or interfacing with SCADA/MES
9) API Hosting: REST API understanding for OT/IT bridging
10) Documentation: BRDs, SOPs, System Specs, Version control, FAT/SAT documents

Preferred Profile

1) 5+ years of hands-on experience in ITOT integration, with strong PLC/SCADA project involvement
2) Prior work experience in pharma manufacturing environments (GMP, validated systems, audit readiness)
3) Strong understanding of shop floor automation, OT network architecture, and cross-functional coordination
4) Team-oriented mindset, capable of guiding and supporting L1 OT engineers
5) Excellent documentation, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
