Job Description

An Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) promotes workplace health and safety by preventing injuries, managing illnesses, conducting health assessments (like pre-employment checks), providing care for work-related issues, advising on risk management, running wellness programs, and ensuring compliance with health regulations to support employee well-being and productivity. Key duties include hazard detection, health surveillance, case management for sickness/injury, health promotion campaigns, and assisting with return-to-work programs, acting as caregivers, educators, and advocates.Key Responsibilities:

Health Surveillance & Risk Management:

Assess workplace hazards, monitor employee health through surveillance, and implement controls to reduce risks.

Direct Care & Case Management:

Treat employees injured or ill at work, manage sickness absence, and coordinate care for chronic conditions.

Health Promotion & Education:

Develop and deliver wellness programs, health education, immunization advice, and mental health support (e.g., stress management).

Policy & Compliance:

Advise on health and safety legislation, develop health policies, and ensure the workplace meets regulatory standards.

Fitness for Work:

Conduct pre-employment medicals and assess fitness for specific roles, supporting return-to-work plans.

Advocacy & Collaboration:

Act as an advocate for employee health, collaborating with management, HR, and other healthcare professionals.
