Job Description

Pre-Operative Duties:

Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies. Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent. Assist with patient positioning and draping. Monitor patient condition and report any changes to the surgeon or anaesthetist.

Intra-Operative Duties:

Assist surgeons during procedures by handing instruments and maintaining a sterile field. Monitor and record patient vitals and surgical activities. Manage surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps. Ensure all items are accounted for during and after surgery.

Post-Operative Duties:

Assist in patient recovery and transfer to recovery or ICU. Monitor patients for adverse reactions to anaesthesia or complications. Document post-operative care and observations.

General Responsibilities:

Adhere to infection control and sterilization protocols. Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing records. Participate in regular training and continuing education. Support junior staff and contribute to team development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (GNM/ B.Sc. Nursing)

License/Certification:

Registered Nurse (RN) license from appropriate regulatory body

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years of OT experience preferred Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques Excellent organizational and time-management skills Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills
