Conduct comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect abnormalities.
Perform refraction and prescribe corrective lenses or contact lenses.
Measure visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and binocular vision function.
Use specialized equipment (e.g., slit lamp, retinoscope, autorefractor, tonometer) for eye evaluation.
Assist in diagnosing eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, etc.
Perform keratometry and A-scan biometry for IOL power calculation.
Conduct pre-surgical evaluations (e.g., for cataract or LASIK).
Educate and counsel patients on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
Perform follow-up checks and report complications to ophthalmologists.
Provide vision therapy and exercises for binocular vision problems.
Recommend and fit low vision aids and educate patients on their usage.
Counsel patients on proper eye care, use of glasses, contact lens hygiene, and lifestyle modifications.
Address patient queries and explain test results in understandable terms.
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and diagnostic findings.
Update EMR systems with refraction and test results.
Operate and maintain all optometric instruments in good working condition.
Ensure proper calibration and cleanliness of diagnostic tools.
Work collaboratively with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other clinical staff.
Assist in outreach camps, school screenings, and awareness programs.
