Perform thorough eye exams using specialized equipment and techniques.
Diagnose eye-related conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, glaucoma, cataracts, and retinal disorders.
Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications for eye conditions.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries (e.g., LASIK, cataract).
Educate patients on proper eye care, hygiene, and preventative measures.
Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with privacy regulations.
Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other medical professionals when advanced care is needed.
Recommend and fit specialty lenses (e.g., bifocal, progressive, sports).
Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optometry and eye care.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited school of optometry.
Valid state optometry license and current board certification.
Proven experience in clinical optometry (new graduates welcome in some settings).
Strong knowledge of diagnostic equipment and software.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
