Job Description

Primary Eye Care:

Optometrists are the first point of contact for most eye and vision problems, performing comprehensive eye exams and vision tests.

Diagnosis and Treatment:

They can diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and certain eye diseases.

Prescribing and Dispensing:

They prescribe and dispense eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other optical aids.

Medication and Therapy:

Optometrists can also prescribe medications and vision therapy for certain eye conditions.

Referral:

When necessary, they refer patients to ophthalmologists (medical doctors specializing in eye diseases) for specialized care or surgery.

Patient Education:

They educate patients about their eye health, vision problems, and treatment options.

Systemic Health:

Optometrists play a role in detecting systemic diseases through the eyes, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

Low Vision Rehabilitation:

They can also provide low vision rehabilitation services for individuals with significant vision loss.

Counseling:

They counsel patients on visual needs related to their occupations, avocations, and lifestyle.

Pay: ?240,000.00 - ?300,000.00 per year
