Job Description

ARAM Hospital is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Optometrist

to join our Ophthalmology team and support comprehensive eye care services. Candidates with experience in refraction, basic ophthalmic investigations, and patient counselling are preferred.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and communicates effectively with patients. Strong clinical knowledge, accuracy in diagnostic procedures, and the ability to counsel patients confidently regarding vision correction and cataract surgery are essential.

Responsibilities



Perform accurate

refraction

and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses. Conduct basic ophthalmic investigations including

keratometry

and

A-scan biometry

. Assist ophthalmologists during patient evaluations and preliminary examinations. Counsel patients regarding

spectacles

, lens options, and

cataract surgery procedures

. Explain diagnostic findings and treatment plans clearly to patients and attendants. Maintain optometry equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness. Document clinical findings accurately and maintain patient records. Adhere to hospital protocols, patient safety standards, and infection-control practices.

Proficiency in

(non-contact & applanation) Hands-on experience in

biometry

(IOL Master, contact & immersion techniques) Ability to perform

perimetry (HFA)

Knowledge of

orthoptic evaluation

corneal topography

,

pachymetry

, and

OCT

Experience in

contact lens management

(Soft & RGP lenses) Dispensing of

spectacles and low vision aids

Strong patient counselling skills for glasses and cataract surgery

Educational Qualification:



Diploma or Degree in

Optometry

from a recognized institution
