Job Summary

We are looking for a

qualified and motivated Optometrist

with 2 - 6 years of clinical experience in hospital or eye care settings. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality optometric services, perform diagnostic tests, support ophthalmologists, and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Examination Duties

Conduct comprehensive eye and vision examinations, including visual acuity testing and refraction. Diagnose refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism) and common eye conditions. Perform routine diagnostic procedures using optometric instruments (autorefractor, slit lamp, tonometer, ophthalmoscope). Evaluate pre- and post-operative eye health for patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Patient Education & Care

Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses, spectacles, and contact lenses as appropriate. Educate patients on eye care, preventive measures, and lens/care routines. Counsel patients on visual hygiene and device use (e.g., contact lenses).

Record Keeping & Coordination

Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records, examination reports, and prescriptions. Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when complex or advanced care is needed. Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams for patient workflow and care quality.

Operational Support

Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper handling of optometric diagnostic equipment.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Certification

Bachelor's degree in Optometry (B.Optom) or equivalent diploma in Optometry. (Preferred) Additional certification/training in advanced optometric care or special diagnostics.

Experience

2 to 6 years of hands-on experience as an optometrist in a hospital or high-volume eye care setting. Strong knowledge of clinical optometry procedures and eye examination tools.

Relocation Requirement

Willingness to relocate:

Candidates must be ready to relocate to the assigned Vasan Eye Care Hospital location within a reasonable time frame (typically within 2-4 weeks of offer acceptance). Preference may be given to local candidates, but qualified applicants from other cities/states who are ready to relocatewill be considered.
