Job Summary:

The Optometrist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and managing patients' vision and eye health. They assist ophthalmologists by performing vision tests, prescribing corrective lenses, and supporting pre- and post-operative eye care.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive eye examinations using standard optometric instruments and techniques. Diagnose refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, etc.) and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses. Conduct vision screening for patients across all age groups. Assist ophthalmologists in diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Perform tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging. Educate patients on eye care, lens use, and preventive measures. Provide pre- and post-operative counseling and support for surgical patients. Maintain accurate patient records and document test results. Assist in selecting and fitting appropriate frames and lenses if an in-house optical is available. Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained regularly. Follow infection control protocols and maintain clinical hygiene.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution. Registered with the relevant Optometry Council (if applicable). 1-3 years of experience in clinical optometry preferred (freshers may be considered).

Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of optometric instruments and vision testing procedures. Good communication and patient-handling skills. Ability to work closely with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals. Computer literacy for data entry and report generation. Professional, compassionate, and detail-oriented approach to patient care.
