to join our healthcare team. The Optometrist will be responsible for providing primary eye care, diagnosing and treating visual problems, and helping patients maintain optimal eye health. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for patient care, and up-to-date knowledge of the latest advancements in optometry.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive eye exams to assess visual acuity, depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision.
Diagnose and manage refractive errors (e.g., nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism).
Prescribe corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses).
Detect and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
Counsel patients on eye health and lifestyle choices affecting vision, including the use of protective eyewear.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists for advanced treatment if needed.
Maintain accurate patient records, including diagnoses, treatments, and prescriptions.
Stay updated with advances in optometry and ophthalmology through continuous education and professional development.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
Active state licensure to practice optometry.
Strong diagnostic skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex medical conditions in simple terms.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a healthcare team.
Knowledge of eye care products, including glasses, contact lenses, and eye health supplements.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in a clinical optometry setting.
Ability to fit and prescribe specialty lenses such as multifocal, toric, or scleral lenses.
Bilingual proficiency (if applicable in your location).
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while conducting eye exams.
Ability to focus closely on small details during patient assessments.
Occasional lifting of equipment or patient files.
