Position Summary:

The Optician is responsible for interpreting optical prescriptions, assisting patients in selecting appropriate eyeglasses or contact lenses, fitting and adjusting eyewear, and ensuring high-quality vision care services. The role requires both technical knowledge and strong customer service skills to meet patients' visual and aesthetic needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Interpret prescriptions provided by optometrists or ophthalmologists Assist customers in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses based on prescription, facial features, lifestyle, and preferences Measure patients' pupillary distance (PD) and optical centers to ensure proper lens fitting Fit, adjust, and repair eyeglass frames to ensure comfort and correct positioning Provide guidance on lens types, coatings, and frame materials (e.g., progressive lenses, blue-light filters, anti-glare coatings) Maintain and update patient records, sales, and orders in optical software Process orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses with optical labs and track delivery Educate patients on the proper care and handling of glasses and contact lenses Ensure display area is clean, organized, and stocked with updated frames and accessories Maintain inventory and inform the manager about stock replenishment Handle customer complaints, returns, and adjustments professionally and efficiently

Qualifications:

Diploma or Certificate in Opticianry or Optical Dispensing 1-3 years of experience in an optical shop or eye clinic preferred Basic understanding of optical prescriptions and ophthalmic products Proficiency in using lensometers, PD meters, and adjustment tools Familiarity with optical inventory and billing software

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise adjustments Good communication skills and product knowledge to assist in eyewear selection Sales orientation and ability to explain features and benefits of products Professional appearance and a friendly, patient-centric attitude

Working Conditions:

Optical retail environment or hospital/clinic-based optical outlet May involve standing for long periods and close interaction with patients Weekend and holiday shifts may be required depending on store hours

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
