The Shell global Trading and Supply business is one of the largest energy trading operations in the world. We have key hubs in Dubai, Houston, London, Rotterdam and Singapore, trading in crude oil, natural gas, LNG, electrical power, refined products, chemical feedstocks and environmental products. This combined with an integrated network of supply and distribution activities and an industry-leading shipping and maritime capability add value for Shell across its Upstream and Downstream businesses.

As part of project parliament, new energy business relating to wholesale, Industrial and commercial (B2B) customers including supply to grid in country. These are the sales offices (RES) which were earlier under Trading governance but under project parliament, org reporting lines have either moved or will be moving to "New Energies".

We are accelerating the energy transition by growing an Integrated Power business. Focusing on the Commercial, Light industry, Technology and Cities sectors, we are helping our customers decarbonise and meet their net-zero emissions targets.

Working in partnerships and coalitions with multiple stakeholders we are developing low-carbon energy offerings for the ecosystems our customers operate in through more renewable power, more marketing, and more innovation - from hydrogen to biofuels to nature based solutions and renewable energy as a service.

In terms of the FO support to NE businesses, while we support part of the NE scope already (moving out of Trading governance) but for other countries, migration from hub is planned early next year. The concerned operations Manager needs set up the new energy process team and needs to closely work with our process owners team for the operationalization & safe execution of the processes designed as part of power transformation program. Our processes will cover invoicing, debt chase, settlements and accounting of buy/sell transactions, inventory reconciliation and valuation, volume imbalance reconciliation & related accruals, Trade book to financial reconciliations (wherever relevant), related controls design, Group disclosures, LFR (legal, fiscal and regulatory reporting), inter-group balancing, specific accounting, Continuous Improvements, SOX compliance and audit activities. The processes are complex and often time critical; they involve working closely with different teams within the Trading business, particularly the front office and mid office teams at the different Trading locations

FO drives value by delivering end-to-end operational excellence, capturing the integrated value by being part of Shell and matching the operational performance of the best external providers. Delivery is driven through a strong performance culture focused on business/process outcomes, at a sustainable cost level. Being a key LT member, the role would be requiring leadership skills leading a team of over 20 members and will grow substantially over a period of time.

  • Build and set up the team from the scratch and recruit resources for the various positions and build capability in the team by leveraging the existing talent within the Trading org.
  • Supervises a team where the work of direct reports has some level of diversity yet is still related.
  • Defines KPIs and workplans and steers the team towards achieving these objectives. Proactively shares best practice, ideas and insights with colleagues and provides and requests (functional) feedback. Ensure Operational KPIs are on target, supervision and control over performance.
  • Manage settlement process with 100% accuracy with FTR mindset.
  • Responsible for Tradebook to Financial (T2F) process, Stock valuation; Gross Margin and Disclosure activities for Global new energy business entities .
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with business, Commercial Operations, Financial Reporting, and Finance Operations to ensure requirements and expectations as well as issues are captured, understood and acted upon in a timely manner; keep abreast of new and changing business/markets.
  • Ensure that the Accounting group has the capability to effectively support the present and future Shell Trading Business and is organized to optimally deliver this support.
  • Ensure business-linked objectives and metrics are in place for each segment of the Accounting group, work closely with the organization to achieve them.
  • Constant view to improve systems and processes with an aim towards elimination of manual data capture, improving reconciliation capabilities and continuing down the path of straight through processing.
  • Assess the company's need to be SOX compliant in certain areas and then drive the necessary level of compliance.
  • Work with and support the wider team to ensure accuracy of the Financial Statements through timely and accurate recognition of expenses and revenue.
  • Additional responsibilities include project management, system upgrades, enhancements, implementations and testing.
  • Support implementation of new business and associated system/process changes.
  • Ability to work with a 'one team mindset i.e. offshore and onshore together.
  • Manage key stakeholders as appropriate on behalf of the TSA organisation.
  • Influence stakeholders in adopting analyses / outcomes and addressing feeder process issues by role modelling and guiding the teams.
  • Conducts Root cause analysis to solve variable or adaptive information and data queries/problems.
  • Works independently under broad managerial supervision. Initiates, develops and implements E2E Financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance of BCP, Zero LTI (Lost Time Injuries), no LSR violations.
  • Provide support in partnering with various divisions to support decision making on various areas Responsible to review Trade book to Financial discrepancies identifying "Root Causes" and taking proper action to resolve them along with following up with relevant parties on pending issues to ensure timely resolution.
  • In addition, this position requires being able to analyze and articulate reconciliation analysis to operations, commercial, and top management.

Must possess ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work in fast-paced busines environment, handle pressure well and deliver results in critical situations. Multiple systems: Excelergy, SAP 4 HANA, Endur Open Link, Nucleus NextGen, SAP, Spotfire, Power BI.
