The Tour Operation Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of travel and tour services for clients. This role ensures smooth operations, high-quality customer experiences, and profitability by managing staff, liaising with suppliers, and developing effective tour packages.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Plan, organize, and manage daily tour operations.
Oversee reservations, ticketing, and itineraries.
Ensure compliance with travel regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies.
Tour Package Development
Design and update tour packages based on market demand and trends.
Negotiate contracts with hotels, airlines, transport providers, and local guides.
Monitor profitability and make adjustments to pricing and offerings.
Customer Experience
Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the client journey.
Handle escalations, complaints, and service recovery effectively.
Collect and analyze customer feedback for continuous improvement.
Team Leadership
Recruit, train, and supervise tour staff and guides.
Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and motivate the team to meet goals.
Conduct regular briefings and debriefings for tour leaders.
Financial & Reporting
Prepare budgets and manage operational costs.
Track revenue, expenses, and profitability of tours.
Generate reports for senior management with recommendations.
Business Development
Build relationships with partners, agents, and vendors.
Stay updated on travel industry trends and competitor offerings.
Contribute to marketing strategies and promotional activities.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Business Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
5+ years of experience in tour operations, travel management, or hospitality.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities.
Proficiency in travel booking systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment
Office-based with frequent travel to inspect tours, meet suppliers, and accompany groups when needed.
Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on tour schedules.
