Job Summary:
The Operations Lead executes operational excellence for compute infrastructure, achieving 24/7 service reliability, rapid incident response, and high-quality delivery. Reporting to the Operations Manager in Compute Services, this senior technical role leads operational initiatives, serves as the escalation point for complex technical issues, and coordinates daily compute operations across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. The Operations Lead mentors team members, implements process improvements, adheres to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), change management procedures, and best operational practices that support business continuity and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate 24/7 compute operations to maintain system reliability, meet SLA compliance, respond to incidents, and uphold operational standards
  • Lead incident response, conduct root cause analysis, resolve complex technical problems, and implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions
  • Execute change management processes, coordinate maintenance windows, manage patching schedules, and minimize risk through controlled implementation procedures
  • Monitor compute infrastructure performance, identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks, and support capacity planning with utilization data and trends
  • Implement automation tools, optimize operational processes, conduct regular assessments, and drive continuous improvement in compute service delivery
  • Mentor operations engineers, conduct knowledge-sharing sessions, maintain operational documentation and runbooks, and develop team technical capabilities
  • Track SLA compliance and operational key performance indicators (KPIs), provide timely performance reporting, and escalate issues that impact service delivery to management
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and infrastructure teams to execute operational roadmaps, support project implementations, and coordinate activities
  • Coordinate with vendors for technical support, manage service requests and escalations, and provide feedback on vendor performance to management
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT operations with focus on compute infrastructure (VMWare/ Hyper V), virtualization, and cloud platforms (any cloud, Azure preferred)
  • Compute (servers, storage, database operations)
  • Windows/ Linux OS
  • ITSM Experience in ServiceNow (user of Service now)
  • At least 2-3 years in a senior technical or lead role coordinating operational activities and mentoring team members
  • Deep technical expertise in compute infrastructure including VMware, Hyper-V, physical servers, and virtualization technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and incident management platforms
  • Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, change management processes, and incident/problem management methodologies
  • Experience with 24/7 operations including on-call rotation, shift coordination, and incident response procedures
  • Knowledge of capacity planning, performance monitoring, and infrastructure optimization techniques
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and document procedures clearly
  • Proven ability to work under pressure during incidents and outages while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders
  • Collaborative mindset with demonstrated ability to work effectively across engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Experience with disaster recovery procedures, backup technologies, and business continuity planning advantageous
