The Compliance, Conduct, and Operational Risk (CCOR) team work globally across all lines of business (LOB). Our team provides oversight of the firm\'s compliance, conduct and operational risk management activities within Firm\'s Risk Management and Compliance Function. We are responsible for the design and execution of the CCOR program, which consists of the second line of defense\'s responsibilities in managing the firm\'s compliance, conduct, and operational risk. CCOR establishes policies and standards which set forth the requirements for the LOBs and Corporate Functions regarding the management of compliance, conduct, and operational risk and enables oversight and independent assessment over compliance, conduct and operational risks inherent within the firm\'s activities.

Job Summary:

The Securities Services Operational Risk Management (ORM) team within CCOR, provides independent operational risk management oversight of and advice to Securities Services within Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). The successful candidate in this position will join a team of risk professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience who collectively ensure that the Firm\'s Operational Risk Management Framework is implemented and functions effectively within Securities Services.

The role is highly visible to senior management and offers the opportunity to work across Securities Services and JPMorgan Chase & Co. To be successful in this role, you will require knowledge of operational risk and key risk management skills, along with an ability execute on a broad book of work including creation and oversight of operational risk testing requirements.

Job responsibilities:

Based in Mumbai, the Associate role will be part of the team responsible for independent assessment and oversight of the execution of the CCOR activities for the Securities Services including, but not limited to the following: challenge of new business initiatives, oversight of the business self-assessments and execution of monitoring activities.

  • Leverage the Firmwide CCOR Management Framework to Identify, Monitor, Manage, and Govern Operational Risk for the CIB Securities Services Businesses as part of a team.
  • Analyze and review Operational Risk data to assess and measure the Operational Risk environment and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Execute testing and monitoring activities to assess the design adequacy and effectiveness of controls within the Securities Services business.
  • Assist in the execution of a complex Operational Risk program to manage operational risk exposure in a dynamic and evolving area of the firm.
  • Participate in thematic risk event reviews on areas of high Operational Risk to ensure issues are identified and remediated.
  • Perform off-cycle reviews of areas of emerging risk or potential control gaps to identify issues for the business and share analysis with business stakeholders; document issues and action plans in the firm\'s system of record.
  • Perform end-to-end review of products and services that will be offered to Securities Services to proactively identify and assess operational risks, challenge the proposed control environment, and recommend whether or not to approve the offering.
  • Promote and instill a strong culture of operational risk management, partner with the business and second-line functions to continually improve operational processes supporting safe business growth and informing and influencing risk-based decision making.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
  • University / Bachelor\'s Degree with minimum 6+ years of experience in financial services industry.
  • Experience in Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, Oversight & Control, or other related areas will be preferred.
  • Experience in Securities Services, Asset management, Institutional capital markets including products and operational trade flow processes and lifecycles will be an added advantage.
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong analytical skills with attention to detail to demonstrate a good understanding of operational risks and their drivers.
  • Ability to Independently assess and as appropriate, provide credible challenge of 1st LOD risk management activities and promote a strong culture of Operational Risk Management (ORM) .
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage multiple tasks while exceling in a dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Self starter and motivated to achieve higher standards over time and ability to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced, complex and evolving environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely with both business and operations teams.
  • Strong team player , strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and partnership with the Business and Operations partners.
  • Flexible approach towards working hours to support APAC region.
