- OT Technician

1. Job Purpose

To support surgical teams by preparing the Operation Theatre, assisting during procedures, and maintaining sterile conditions to ensure patient safety and smooth OT operations.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Pre-Operative Responsibilities

Prepare OT with instruments, consumables, and equipment as per surgery. Ensure cleanliness and sterility of the OT before every procedure. Check functionality of OT equipment (lights, cautery, suction, monitors, etc.). Assist in patient shifting and proper positioning.

B. Intra-Operative Responsibilities

Assist surgeons and anesthetists during surgeries. Provide instruments promptly while maintaining sterile techniques. Operate basic OT equipment (suction, cautery, laparoscopic camera, etc.). Handle specimens properly as per protocol.

C. Post-Operative Responsibilities

Help transfer patient safely to recovery. Collect, count, and send used instruments to CSSD. Clean and reset OT for the next case. Document surgeries and material use accurately.

3. Coordination & Administrative Responsibilities

Coordinate with OT staff, CSSD, Anesthesia, and Biomedical teams. Maintain OT consumable stock and report shortages. Report equipment malfunction immediately. Follow infection control and waste management protocols.

4. Skills & Competencies

Basic understanding of surgical procedures. Knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control. Ability to handle OT instruments and equipment. Good communication, teamwork, and ability to handle emergencies.
