Job Summary:
The OT Manager is responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the Operating Theatres. This role ensures the highest standards of patient safety, infection control, efficiency, and coordination among surgical teams. The position demands strong leadership, clinical expertise, and administrative efficiency to maintain operational excellence in all surgical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily OT activities for smooth and timely execution of surgical procedures.
Prepare and manage duty rosters for OT nurses, technicians, and support staff.
Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques, infection control, and safety protocols.
Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff for effective scheduling and patient flow.
Oversee maintenance of OT equipment, instruments, and consumables in coordination with the biomedical and procurement teams.
Conduct regular OT audits, checklist verifications, and quality rounds.
Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping of all surgical procedures.
Organize staff training, orientation, and periodic performance evaluations.
Participate actively in hospital quality, infection control, and safety committees.
Ensure preparedness of emergency OTs and manage critical situations efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in
Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology (B.Sc OT & AT)
/
Nursing
or equivalent.
Master's Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital / Healthcare Management preferred.
Experience:
Minimum
7-10 years
of experience in Operation Theatre or Anaesthesia departments.
At least
3 years
of experience in a
supervisory or managerial role
.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
and
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
preferred.
Training in infection control, quality, or patient safety will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Sound knowledge of OT protocols, sterilization techniques, and infection control.
Ability to make quick and effective decisions under pressure.
Proficiency in hospital management systems and surgical scheduling software.
