Chettinad Academy of Research and Education is seeking a dedicated and responsible
Operating Theatre & Anaesthesia Technician
. The ideal candidate will be someone who assist anaesthetist during surgical procedures. Prepare and maintain anaesthesia equipment, monitor patients' vital signs, and ensure a sterile environment. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, calibrate, and ensure the proper functioning of anaesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment prior to surgical procedures.
Support Anaesthetist during the induction and maintenance of anaesthesia, including preparing and administering medications under supervision.
Continuously monitor patients' vital signs during surgery, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and promptly report any abnormalities.
Assist in the safe transfer of patients to recovery units and provide necessary support during the immediate post-operative phase.
Ensure all anaesthesia equipment and work areas are sterile and comply with infection control protocols.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of anaesthesia equipment and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
Meticulous in preparing equipment and monitoring patients to ensure safety and efficacy during procedures.
Effective verbal and written communication abilities to interact with the surgical team and document patient information accurately.
Ability to remain calm and perform effectively under the high-pressure environment of an operating theatre.
Demonstrated compassion and understanding towards patients' needs and concerns.
Requirements:
A diploma or degree in Operation Theatre Technology, Anaesthesia Technology, or a related field. B.Sc (AT & OT).
Relevant certifications in anaesthesia technology or operating theatre practice are often preferred.
Prior experience in an operating theatre setting, particularly in anaesthesia support roles, is advantageous.
Ability to stand for extended periods and assist in patient positioning and equipment handling.
Familiarity with emergency procedures and the ability to implement them effectively when necessary
Preference will be given to immediate joiners.
