Position Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of wood manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production, quality standards, timely delivery, and cost-effective processes. The role involves managing production teams, procurement, inventory, maintenance, and logistics while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. Production Management
Plan, organize, and supervise daily wood processing and furniture manufacturing operations.
Ensure production schedules are met with optimal resource utilization.
Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
Coordinate with design and engineering teams for new product development.
2. Quality Control
Enforce quality standards for raw materials and finished products.
Work closely with the quality assurance team to resolve defects and customer complaints.
Implement continuous improvement methods (Kaizen, Lean, 5S, etc.).
3. Team Management
Lead, train, and motivate production staff, carpenters, machine operators, and supervisors.
Assign tasks and monitor performance to achieve productivity targets.
Promote a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
4. Supply Chain & Inventory
Oversee procurement of timber, hardware, and consumables.
Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid production delays.
Negotiate with suppliers for quality materials at competitive prices.
5. Equipment & Maintenance
Ensure machinery (saws, CNC routers, sanders, polishers, etc.) is well-maintained.
Schedule preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
6. Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure adherence to workplace safety standards and environmental guidelines.
Conduct safety training and audits.
Maintain compliance with industry regulations and certifications.
7. Cost & Budget Management
Prepare and manage operational budgets.
Reduce waste and improve efficiency to control costs.
Track and report key performance metrics.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred) any degree.
5 to 8+ years of experience in wood/furniture manufacturing or related industry.
Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of woodworking machinery, production processes, and materials.
Proficiency in ERP or production management software.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Production output vs. plan.
Product quality and defect rate.
On-time delivery performance.
Cost per unit / cost efficiency.
Equipment downtime and maintenance compliance.
