. This role will drive architecture decisions, upstream strategies, and OSV engagements to ensure seamless integration of Intel features into open-source ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
Canonical Engagement
: Act as the primary technical liaison with Canonical, driving feature landing, kernel patch adoption, and platform validation for Ubuntu releases (e.g., 24.04, 25.04, 26.04).
Yocto Project Leadership
: Represent Intel in the Yocto Project Governance Board. Maintain and evolve Intel's meta-layers (meta-intel, meta-openvino, meta-zephyr, etc.) for embedded and edge platforms
Azure Linux Enablement
: Architect and validate Azure Linux-based OS images for internal platforms like Tiber OS, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security compliance
Upstream Strategy
: Champion upstream-first and open-source-first strategies. Ensure frictionless adoption of patches by OSVs and maintain visibility into upstream metrics.
Platform Validation
: Oversee validation cycles for kernel and user-space packages across multiple platforms (e.g., ARL-H, MTL-P, RPL-P, ADL-S, TGL-U) using Yocto and Canonical workflows.
Process Optimization
: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners (Canonical, Wind River, etc.) to streamline OS development workflows and improve automation coverage.
OS Leadership for Customer Design Win Acceleration:
+ Engage across stack at E2E system level for OS leadership for solutions delivering use cases: Act as Technical voice and provide direction and guidance for operating system leadership in customer design win engagements at use case level with a broader understanding of entire E2E solution stack across various SW layers and HW and use case performance, zero-friction deployment, scalability, security, reliability, and upgrade requirements and analysis
+ System Debug and Analysis leadership across operating systems: Lead in the system level technical debug for root causing and analysis for issues identified at solution use case level for various operating system related components and kernel and interact with platform domain teams to resolve issues and deliver solutions to problems identified
Impact & Leadership
Serve as the technical advisor for all OS initiatives within the Operating Systems Group (OSG).
Lead strategic engagements with OSVs.
Drive innovation in OS architecture and validation methodologies.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of open-source excellence.
Lead with creative solutions in OS architecture and deployment for customer design win engagements
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
10-15 years of experience in Linux OS architecture, kernel development, and distribution enablement.
Deep expertise in Canonical Ubuntu, Yocto Project, and Azure Linux.
Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals, upstreaming processes, and open-source governance.
Experience with OS image composition, validation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Bash, and Linux system tools.
Proven track record of cross-geo collaboration and external partner engagement.
5+ years of proven track record of systems level architecture and technical leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Contributions to upstream Linux kernel or Yocto meta-layers.
Familiarity with secure boot, immutable OS design, and containerized workloads.
Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CI CD frameworks and automated QA systems.
Knowledge of Intel platform architecture and SOC integration.
