to oversee welding operations and ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and customer specifications. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of welding techniques, procedures, and quality assurance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and monitor welding activities on shop floor and ensure quality compliance.
Review and verify WPS (Welding Procedure Specification), PQR (Procedure Qualification Record), and WPQ (Welder Performance Qualification).
Conduct visual inspections and witness NDT tests (RT, UT, PT, MT).
Ensure welding is done as per ASME / AWS / ISO / IBR codes and project specifications.
Maintain inspection records, welding logs, and quality documentation.
Coordinate with third-party inspectors and clients during stage inspections.
Identify welding defects and recommend corrective actions.
Assist in welder qualification and requalification programs.
Report non-conformities and follow up for closure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in welding inspection in heavy fabrication industry.
Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI / IWE / IWT) preferred.
Familiar with pressure vessel, structural steel, and piping standards.
Knowledge in reading engineering drawings and welding symbols.
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with ASME, IS, and ISO standards.
Experience in dealing with third-party agencies (TUV, Lloyds, DNV, etc.).
Exposure to pressure parts, heat exchangers, and structural fabrication.
