At least 12 months of hands-on experience in Defect Management, Bug Triage, or Issue Resolution within software development or support environments.
Prior exposure to collaborating with development, testing, and product teams to prioritize and resolve defects effectively.
Core Responsibilities:
Defect Triage & Prioritization:
Review, validate, and prioritize reported defects based on severity, impact, and reproducibility.
Facilitate defect triage meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution.
Collaborate closely with developers, testers, and stakeholders to clarify defect details and reproduction steps.
Defect Lifecycle Management:
Track and monitor defect status across the lifecycle in ticketing tools (e.g., JIRA).
Ensure defects are logged with complete and accurate information, including logs, screenshots, and environment details.
Escalate critical or high-impact defects promptly to relevant teams or management.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Analyze defect trends and root causes to identify areas for quality improvements.
Generate regular reports on defect metrics (e.g., open defects, defect density, aging defects) for process reviews.
Use Excel/Google Sheets (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and basic SQL queries to extract and process defect data.
Process Compliance & Improvement:
Ensure adherence to defect management processes and SLAs.
Identify gaps or inefficiencies in defect triage workflows and propose enhancements.
Conduct periodic quality audits on defect records to maintain data integrity.
Communication & Coordination:
Act as a point of contact for defect-related queries within the team and across departments.
Provide clear, concise, and timely updates on defect status and triage outcomes.
Document lessons learned and knowledge articles to aid faster defect resolution.
Skills & Qualifications:
Proficient with ticketing tools like JIRA for defect tracking and management.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office or Google Suite, especially Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis.
Basic understanding of SQL for data extraction.
Experience in using root cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone diagram) to identify defect origins.
Exceptional English reading and writing skills--ability to understand complex defect reports and write clear bug descriptions.
Strong logical reasoning and attention to detail to identify critical defects and missing information.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, managing multiple defect triage activities simultaneously.
Familiarity with software development lifecycle and QA/testing fundamentals.
Comfortable using smartphones, virtual platforms, and remote collaboration tools.
