The O&M Head (Utility) is responsible for end-to-end operations and maintenance of utility infrastructure supporting telecom networks, including power systems, energy management, HVAC, DG sets, batteries, and site infrastructure. The role ensures maximum network uptime, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and service quality across all telecom sites.
Key Responsibilities1. Operations & Maintenance
Lead and manage O&M activities for utilities across telecom sites (BTS, IBS, data centers, switching sites).
Ensure 24x7 availability of power and utility systems to maintain network uptime.
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of DG sets, batteries, rectifiers, solar systems, HVAC, and electrical infrastructure.
Implement SOPs, SLAs, and KPIs for utility operations.
2. Energy & Cost Management
Optimize energy consumption and reduce OPEX through efficiency initiatives.
Manage fuel consumption, pilferage control, and vendor billing reconciliation.
Drive adoption of green energy solutions (solar, hybrid power systems).
Monitor energy KPIs and implement energy-saving projects.
3. Vendor & Contract Management
Manage utility vendors, AMCs, and outsourcing partners.
Ensure SLA compliance and performance evaluation of vendors.
Negotiate contracts to achieve cost optimization and service quality.
4. Team Leadership
Lead regional O&M teams and field engineers.
Build technical capability through training and skill development.
Drive safety culture and operational excellence.
5. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with statutory, environmental, and safety regulations.
Implement HSE standards across all utility operations.
Conduct audits and risk assessments at telecom sites.
6. Process Improvement & Digitization
Drive automation, remote monitoring, and digitization of utility operations.
Implement tools for asset tracking, alarm monitoring, and predictive maintenance.
Continuously improve processes to enhance reliability and efficiency.
7. Stakeholder Management
Coordinate with Network, Deployment, Planning, and Finance teams.
Support new site rollouts, upgrades, and expansions from a utility perspective.
Provide management reports and dashboards on performance metrics.

Qualifications

Experience
12-18 years of experience in telecom O&M or infrastructure operations
At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing utility operations
