An Office Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining a company's financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. This role is vital for tracking income and expenses, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and helping in strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Bookkeeping and Record Maintenance
Recording daily financial transactions (sales, purchases, payments, receipts)
Maintaining ledgers, journals, and other financial documents
Ensuring all records are up-to-date and accurate.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable
Preparing and processing invoices
Managing payments to suppliers and follow-ups on receivables
Reconciling vendor and customer accounts.
3. Bank and Cash Management
Handling petty cash and daily cash transactions
Preparing bank reconciliations
Monitoring cash flow and reporting discrepancies
4. Tax and Compliance
Calculating and preparing GST, TDS, or other applicable taxes
Assisting in tax filings and audits
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
5. Payroll Support
Assisting in payroll processing
Maintaining records of employee salaries, deductions, and bonuses
6. Financial Reporting
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
Assisting management in financial decision-making
