Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapy interventions to help individuals--particularly children with developmental delays or disabilities--achieve functional independence in daily living, learning, play, and social participation. The OT will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers to promote holistic development and improve the quality of life of clients.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify motor, sensory, perceptual, cognitive, and adaptive functioning challenges.
Develop individualized therapy plans tailored to each client's strengths, needs, and goals.
Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to enhance fine motor skills, self-care abilities, sensory integration, attention, and adaptive behaviors.
Collaborate with other professionals (speech therapists, psychologists, special educators, physiotherapists, pediatricians) for holistic care.
Document progress notes, maintain detailed therapy records, and prepare periodic reports for internal and external reviews.
Family & Caregiver Support
Provide guidance, training, and counseling to parents and caregivers on home-based strategies.
Conduct workshops and awareness sessions on child development, sensory integration, and functional independence.
Teamwork & Professional Development
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical review meetings.
Stay updated with the latest research, therapeutic techniques, and assistive technologies.
Contribute to community outreach, awareness programs, and capacity-building initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (BOT/MOT) from a recognized institution.
Registration with the relevant council/licensing authority.
Minimum 1 years of clinical experience (experience in pediatrics/developmental disorders preferred).
Strong knowledge of sensory integration therapy, fine/gross motor development, and functional rehabilitation techniques.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Empathy, patience, and ability to engage effectively with children and families.
