Job Description

An occupational therapist (OT) is a healthcare professional who

assesses and treats individuals with physical, mental, or developmental disabilities by developing personalized treatment plans to help them regain or improve their ability to perform everyday activities (like dressing, bathing, cooking) and achieve maximum independence in their daily lives, often by adapting their environment or teaching new skills

; they may work with patients across various settings like hospitals, clinics, schools, and homes, evaluating their needs, designing interventions, and monitoring progress through regular sessions.

Key responsibilities of an occupational therapist include:

Patient evaluation:

Conducting thorough assessments to identify limitations and needs related to daily living activities, including physical abilities, cognitive function, and sensory processing.

Treatment plan development:Creating customized treatment plans based on individual needs, including specific goals and interventions to address challenges.

Therapeutic interventions:Implementing a variety of therapeutic activities like sensory integration techniques, manual dexterity exercises, adaptive equipment training, and home modifications to improve functional skills.
