Job Summary:
An Obsolescence Management Engineer is responsible for proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with the end-of-life of components and other technologies used in a product or system. This involves analysing potential obsolescence issues, developing and implementing strategies to address them, and ensuring the continued functionality and reliability of the product throughout its lifecycle.
Key Accountabilities:
Planning and coordination of obsolescence management-relevant activities.
Check the export control relevance or any specific relevant restriction.
Review and documentation of affected assemblies/components due to change scope.
Coordination, communication with the relevant stakeholders regarding the qualification.
Identifying if similar changes are already in progress into the system.
Manage the change documentation in relevant tools like OM tool, Windchill and SAP.
Accountable for Collecting and pre-evaluating OM relevant Data.
Documentation of the results of the safeguarding measures and preparation of releases, as well as support in defining corrective measures.
Preparation of technical reports for the documentation of series releases.
Qualifications & Experience:
Diploma/bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
At least 03-05 yrs. working experience in the component qualification process domain.
Knowledge of SAP, Creo, Windchill, MS Office (Word/Excel).
Good knowledge of engine components and functions.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering/Manufacturing processes like casting, forging, machining, die and pattern, Sheet metal, piping etc.
Experience in the qualification process and Knowledge in testing for diesel engine components.
Knowledge of field issues with respect to obsolescence management.
