Supervise, guide, and support
staff nurses and junior supervisors
Prepare and manage
duty rosters, shift planning, and leave schedules
Assess staff performance and participate in
appraisals and competency evaluations
Mentor and train nursing staff; identify training needs
Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with
hospital policies, nursing protocols, and legal standards
Coordinate with HR, medical, and support departments
Maintain nursing documentation, reports, and incident records
Assist in manpower planning and resource utilization
Quality & Safety
Implement and monitor
quality improvement initiatives
Ensure adherence to
NABH / JCI / hospital accreditation standards
Monitor infection control practices and patient safety indicators
Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes
Communication & Coordination
Act as a liaison between nursing staff, doctors, patients, and management
Handle patient and family concerns professionally and empathetically
Ensure effective handover and interdepartmental coordination
Emergency & Shift Management
Ensure smooth functioning of units during
night shifts, weekends, and emergencies
Manage staffing shortages and crisis situations
Support disaster management and emergency preparedness plans
