Job Description

Key Responsibilities:



1. Patient Care & Safety



Ensure delivery of safe, quality, and compassionate nursing care in compliance with hospital protocols. Monitor patient care plans and coordinate with doctors, consultants, and allied healthcare staff. Respond to patient and family concerns promptly, escalating issues where required.

2. Staff Supervision & Management



Supervise nursing staff in wards/units; assign duties and ensure adequate staffing coverage for each shift. Guide, mentor, and support nurses in handling critical cases. Monitor attendance, discipline, grooming, and professional conduct of nursing staff.

3. Clinical & Administrative Duties



Conduct regular ward rounds to monitor nursing care, infection control, and documentation practices. Verify and ensure accuracy of patient records, medication administration, and discharge summaries. Support adherence to NABH/JCI standards and hospital policies.

4. Training & Development



Identify training needs of staff nurses and coordinate with the Nursing Education team. Provide on-the-job training and orientation for new nursing staff.

5. Resource & Inventory Management



Ensure availability and proper utilization of medicines, consumables, and medical equipment. Report shortages, malfunctions, and ensure timely requisition.

6. Reporting & Communication



Prepare daily/weekly reports on nursing activities, incidents, and patient care outcomes. Act as the link between nurses, doctors, and hospital administration. Handle emergency situations effectively until higher authorities take charge.

Qualifications & Requirements:



Education:

B.Sc Nursing or GNM (with strong supervisory experience); M.Sc Nursing preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5-7 years of clinical experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Knowledge of hospital accreditation standards (NABH/JCI). Ability to handle emergencies and make quick clinical decisions. Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
