is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall administration, management, and supervision of all nursing services within the hospital. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compassionate nursing care in compliance with all regulatory standards and hospital policies. The Superintendent acts as a key liaison between the nursing staff, hospital administration, and medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management
Oversee all daily operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring optimal patient flow, resource allocation, and quality of care across all units.
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care based on current evidence-based practice and regulatory requirements.
Lead, mentor, and evaluate Assistant Nursing Superintendents, Nursing Supervisors, and Unit Managers.
2. Quality and Compliance
Ensure strict adherence to national and international healthcare accreditation standards and all nursing laws.
Establish and monitor Quality Assurance programs, patient safety initiatives, and continuous quality improvement projects for nursing services.
Manage and investigate critical incidents, patient complaints, and disciplinary actions concerning nursing staff.
3. Staffing and Development
Forecast departmental staffing needs and collaborate with Human Resources for recruitment, selection, and retention of competent nursing personnel.
Develop and implement comprehensive orientation, in-service training, and continuing education programs for all nursing staff.
Conduct performance appraisals for direct reports and ensure all nursing staff receive regular, constructive feedback.
4. Fiscal Management
Prepare and manage the annual nursing budget, ensuring efficient use of resources, supplies, and equipment.
Monitor staff productivity and implement cost-effective measures without compromising patient care quality.
Qualification:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) or Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Nursing Administration, Hospital Administration (MHA), or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of
10 years
of progressive clinical nursing experience.
