Job Description

Role Purpose:



To ensure excellence in patient care by being directly accountable for ward management through supervision of staff, to ensure smooth functioning of the ward during the shift, offering guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and ensuring that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

Key responsibilities of Ward In-charge:



Administrative:



1. Coordinating daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments, and patient care.

2. Preparing duty roster of the staff nurses, student nurses and work assignment.

3. Overseeing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, including maintaining correct statistics.

4. Ensuring adequate supply of equipment, medicines etc. in the wards.

5. Checking the inventory regularly and keeping the stock register up to date.

6. Maintaining the records of non-serviceable articles and making arrangement for condemnation.

7. Ensuring maintenance of waste management and infection control of the ward.

8. Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.

9. Responsible for the safety of dangerous drugs.

10. Dealing with adverse situations and reporting to the concerned authority

11. Reporting any medico legal cases in the ward to the concerned authority.

12. Keeping Nursing Supervisor informed of any incident of importance.

Supervisory:



13. Maintaining a conducive working relationship/atmosphere in the ward.

14. Supervising, guiding and directing the staff Nurses and students to carry out treatment of the patients as prescribed by the physician/surgeon.

15. Supervising the general cleanliness, sanitation etc.

16. Recording confidential reports of the staff nurses including writing and submitting performance report of the staff on a periodic basis.

17. Reporting to the Nursing Supervisor, Nursing Director regarding any disciplinary actions to be initiated.

18. Holding meetings with the staff nurses to discuss problems and recommending solutions.

19. Counseling the staff nurses as and when required.

Patient Care:



20. Being aware of each patient's condition and need for nursing care.

21. Monitoring medical charts and ensuring compassionate care and assistance is provided to patients and families.

22. Ensuring implementation of standards for patient care without the slightest compromise.

23. Supervising direct patient care of the unit and provide direct care to seriously ill patients as and when situation arises.

24. Assigning staff nurses, student nurses for nursing care, especially for acute illnesses, and post operative cases.

25. Co-ordinating with other departments for patient care and for smooth running of the unit.

26. Supervising dietary arrangements, serving of diet and feeding of the helpless patients.

27. Identifying issues or emergencies and responding in a calm and efficient manner.

28. Taking ward rounds with the Consultants/ Nursing Director/ Nursing Supervisor.

29. Being available to the staff at the time of emergencies/accidents.

Education:



30. Cooperating with sister tutors and ensure adequate clinical experience for students.

31. Assigning work to the students and supervising them.

32. Evaluating student performance in the ward & reporting accordingly.

33. Participating in teaching and supervising the staff.

34. Responsible for the orientation of new staff.

35. Participating in research studies when required.

36. Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time by the management.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?40,000.00 - ?45,000.00 per month
