We are expanding our New Product Development (NPD) team and looking for a skilled NPD Sourcing Engineer to support new product launches and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Job Summary
The NPD Sourcing Engineer will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and onboarding suppliers for new electronic components, mechanical parts, and materials required for new product development. The role involves working closely with engineering, quality, and project management teams to ensure timely sourcing, cost optimization, and supplier readiness for NPI (New Product Introduction).
Key Responsibilities
Lead sourcing activities for new components, materials, and assemblies for NPD/NPI projects.
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers based on cost, capability, capacity, and quality standards.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand technical requirements and convert them into sourcing specifications.
Conduct RFQs, price negotiations, cost analysis, and supplier comparison.
Ensure sourcing timelines are met to support proto, pilot, and mass-production builds.
Develop and maintain supplier data, pricing database, and cost benchmarks.
Work with suppliers to resolve technical queries, documentation needs, and manufacturability concerns.
Coordinate with the Quality team for supplier audits, sample approvals, and compliance checks.
Support BoM creation, alternate part identification, and risk assessment for new products.
Drive cost reduction initiatives and value engineering during product development.
Ensure adherence to company procurement policies and compliance requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / related field.
3-7 years of sourcing experience in electronics manufacturing, components sourcing, or EMS/ODM environment.
Strong understanding of electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts, and manufacturing processes.
Experience working with suppliers for semiconductors, passives, connectors, plastics, metals, and cable assemblies.
Hands-on experience with RFQ, negotiation, cost analysis, and supplier evaluation.
Familiarity with BOM management and ERP systems.
Good knowledge of quality standards (RoHS, REACH, ISO, etc.).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in NPD/NPI sourcing in electronic product design companies.
Exposure to PPAP, APQP, or other supplier development frameworks.
Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications.
