Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Design

Lead design and development of new valves (Ball, Gate, Globe, Check, Butterfly, Control valves, etc.) based on market and customer requirements. Prepare design concepts, 3D models, and detailed drawings using CAD tools (SolidWorks / AutoCAD ). Conduct design calculations for pressure ratings, flow coefficients, and material selection.

Prototyping & Testing

Coordinate with the production and quality teams to develop prototypes and pre-production samples. Plan and execute valve testing (hydrostatic, seat leakage, functional, endurance tests) as per API / ISO / ASME standards. Analyze test data and implement design improvements.

Documentation & Standards Compliance

Ensure design documentation, BOM, and specifications are accurately prepared and maintained. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, PED, ATEX, IBR, etc.). Prepare technical files for product certification and customer approvals.

Project Management

Manage NPD projects from concept to commercial launch within defined timelines and budgets. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Production, QA/QC, Purchase, Marketing). Identify cost reduction and design optimization opportunities.

Vendor & Material Development

Support sourcing of new materials, components, and suppliers related to new designs. Evaluate and approve suppliers for new components.

Continuous Improvement

Benchmark competitor products and technologies for product enhancement. Implement DFMEA, value engineering, and reliability improvement programs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

5-15 years (for Manager role) or 2-5 years (for Engineer role) in valve design and development.

Software Skills:

SolidWorks, AutoCAD

Knowledge:

API/ASME/ISO valve design standards, materials, and testing procedures.

Key Skills:

Strong understanding of mechanical design principles. Knowledge of casting, machining, and assembly processes. Project management and documentation skills. Innovative thinking and problem-solving. Good communication and team coordination.

Performance Indicators:

Timely completion of NPD projects. Product performance and compliance to standards. Cost and lead-time reduction in product development. Customer satisfaction and successful product launches.
