Job Title: NPD Engineer (New Product Development)

Job Summary
The NPD Engineer will be responsible for developing new roll-formed products and improving existing profiles through innovative design, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. The role involves converting customer requirements into manufacturable roll-forming profiles while ensuring quality, cost efficiency, and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
1. Design and develop new roll-formed sections, components, and assemblies as per customer specifications and market requirements.
2. Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
3. Select appropriate materials, tolerances, and tooling parameters for roll forming operations.
4. Conduct feasibility studies and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) analysis.
Tooling & Process Development
5. Design roll-forming tool sets and coordinate with the tool room for manufacturing and validation.
6. Define forming sequences, passes, and roll flower patterns.
7. Support tooling trials, sample approval, and production readiness.
8. Optimize process parameters to improve productivity and minimize scrap.
Project Management
9. Plan and manage NPD projects from concept to production launch.
10. Prepare project timelines, cost estimations, and progress reports.
11. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, Purchase, and Marketing.
12. Ensure on-time delivery of samples and production implementation.
Testing & Validation
13. Conduct product testing, dimensional analysis, and performance validation.
14. Review test results and implement corrective actions as required.
15. Prepare technical documentation such as PPAP, FMEA, and control plans.
Continuous Improvement
16. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
17. Benchmark new technologies and materials relevant to roll forming.
18. Support existing product enhancements and customization.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of roll forming process, tooling, and machine setup.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
Understanding of sheet metal design principles and GD&T.
Knowledge of material properties (CRCA, GI, SS, Aluminum, etc.).
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and quality tools (5S, FMEA, PPAP, APQP).
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Project management and documentation ability.
Educational Qualification
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Production Engineering/Industrial Engineering
Experience Required
3 to 7 years of experience in new product development within the roll forming / sheet metal / fabrication industry.
Hands-on experience with roll design, tool development, and trials preferred.
