Lead and coordinate new product development activities from concept to production.
Develop prototypes, review designs, and ensure manufacturability in sheet metal fabrication.
Conduct feasibility studies, cost analysis, and time estimation for new projects.
2. Customer Interaction & Requirement Gathering:
Understand customer specifications, technical drawings, and quality requirements.
Coordinate with customers for design approvals, technical clarifications, and feedback.
3. Design & Documentation:
Review engineering drawings (2D & 3D) and prepare BOMs.
Support design modifications and value engineering for cost optimization.
Ensure documentation of NPD processes as per ISO / IATF standards.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination:
Work closely with Production, Quality, Purchase, and Tool Room teams for smooth execution.
Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, tools, and fixtures for new developments.
5. Tooling & Process Development:
Oversee development of jigs, fixtures, and dies for sheet metal fabrication.
Validate manufacturing processes through trials and first-off inspections.
Implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and increase productivity.
6. Project Management:
Prepare and monitor project timelines, ensure adherence to delivery commitments.
Identify risks in NPD projects and implement corrective & preventive actions.
7. Quality & Compliance:
Ensure new products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
Coordinate PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), APQP documentation, and sample submission.
Support audits and compliance with industry standards.
8. Team Development:
Guide and support junior engineers in NPD activities.
Promote continuous learning and skill development within the team.
Key Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, bending, welding, powder coating, etc.)
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.)
Understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and other quality tools.
Project management and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and customer handling ability.
