Job Description

Provide DBA support for the Acoustic SaaS NoSQL database platforms running on Linux focused on reliability, security, recoverability, and performance. Responsibilities Provide 3rd level NoSQL support for a diverse SaaS platform including MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, HBase, Couchbase, and Cassandra Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production to maximize availability and protect data integrity under guidance of Product Engineering (development) and L3 DBAs Participate in patching and upgrades during scheduled maintenance Work cooperatively with 1st level support team Manage creating and adjusting alerts for L1 - SaaSops monitoring including such issues such as; disk space, compute resource utilization, basic functionality Understand and manage cost issues and seek to achieve cost savings where possible With costs in mind, assess and present possible architectural changes to improve customer experience through tuning and optimizing database platforms Ceate and maintain runbooks for typical DB tasks,when possible, assign and oversee tasks for L1 DBAs and Saas Ops staff to perform Provide extended availability for emergency issue that may arise out of business hours, respond to pages and calls that may be automated when critical systems require support Participate in an on-call schedule with other team members to provide availability during known days/hours Work with software engineering (development and support) teams to diagnose outages or other issues and resolve quickly Learn to use existing or future monitoring tools to provide Operations and Engineering the ability to monitor platform health and performance Spread knowledge across team members. Identify knowledge gaps, create documentation, cross-train, learn and share new ideas Requirements Scripting: Cron, Perl, Python, Shell Experience operating MongoDB clusters Some experience with NoSQL on AWS/EC2 and Azure/VM as well as some managed DB services such as DocDB, DynamoDB, etc.. Understanding of backup concepts and practical techniques Datadog experience monitoring NoSQL cloud based database health Understanding of database security concepts and how to secure database and manage user groups Experience in managing large databases in a critical, production environment Experience in server/cluster architecture and performance tuning Solid understanding of backup principals including data protection and disaster recovery Formal Certification in AWS (AWS Cloud Practitioner minimum, AWS Solutions Architect preferred) and/or in Azure ( Fundation Az-900 ) Sufficient Linux experience to comfortably support the environments including scripts and job schedules to monitor database and troubleshoot issues 7+ years of experience as a MongoDB DBA minimum 3+ years of experience managing NoSQL/Linux environments in a production, critical environment Preferred Bachelor\'s degree preferred Linux Certifications preferred SaaS experience AWS/Azure cloud experience DBA certification(s) on relevant platforms
