JOB DESCRPTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES): 1. Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the neonatal patient's immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by hospital's policies, procedures or protocols. 2. Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by the neonatal patient's condition and/or the hospital's policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly. 3. Practices comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in accordance with professional values and moral principles and maintains confidentiality as appropriate 4. Participates in nursing Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, in service education programs, unit meetings, and committee functions as assigned. 5. Participates in teaching and assessing of junior colleagues. 6. Protects, promotes and supports breastfeeding in alignment with WHO/ UNICEF guidelines 7. Develops plan of care that is individualized for the neonatal patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. 8. Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner. 9. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the neonatal patient and his/her family. 10. Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the neonatal patient and his/her family. 11. Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress towards problem resolution. 12. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to neonatal resuscitation protocols. 13. Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and client facility staff. 14. Provides healthcare to the neonate in a variety of settings 15. Prioritizes client's needs and delegates aspects of nursing care to other nursing personnel within his/her scope of professional responsibility 16. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of each client in accordance with client's individuality, abilities, culture and choices. 17. Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the neonatal patient's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights. 18. Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift. 19. Maintains current competency in neonatal nursing. 20. Carry out the responsibility of the shift in charge when the head Nurse is not on duty
