Position SummaryThe PCB Assembly Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting all processes related to printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, including SMT, through-hole, hand soldering, reflow profiling, inspection, and testing. This role ensures high-quality production, supports NPI builds, reduces defects, and improves manufacturing yields through data-driven process improvements and cross-functional collaboration. Key ResponsibilitiesNew Product Introduction (NPI)
Review PCB design files (Gerber, ODB++), BOMs, assembly drawings, and DFM feedback with design teams.
Plan and execute prototype builds, ensuring assembly readiness and communicating risks.
Production Support
Provide real-time engineering support to SMT and assembly lines for troubleshooting process.
Support day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production and quality targets.
Documentation
Create and maintain process instructions.
Prepare engineering change notices (ECNs) and support configuration management.
Process Development & Optimization
Develop and optimize SMT, Wave, coating and testing assembly processes, solder paste selection.
Define and improve assembly workflows, process parameters, and quality control checkpoints.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce cycle time, and improve first-pass yield.
