The NPD Lead will be responsible for managing and executing end-to-end New Product Development projects in the mechanical domain, with a strong focus on machine manufacturing and special purpose machines (SPMs). This role involves driving product innovation, ensuring timely delivery, and collaborating across departments to launch high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable products.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the complete NPD cycle from idea generation, concept design, prototyping, testing, to production handover.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Sales) to ensure project objectives are met.
Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and track progress against milestones.
Prepare and review 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation.
Conduct feasibility studies, material selection, and risk assessments for new designs.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety norms, and customer requirements.
Facilitate design validation and reliability testing for new products.
Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and performance enhancement.
Mentor team members and build strong technical capabilities in the NPD team
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
8-12 years of experience in new product development in a machine manufacturing/SPM environment.
Proven track record of successfully launching new products from concept to market.
Strong knowledge of CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) and GD&T.
Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, casting, welding, and assembly.
Excellent project management skills, with proficiency in tools like MS Project or similar.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Skills:
Exposure to automation, robotics, and electro-mechanical integration.
Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems.
Experience in DFMEA, APQP, and other product development frameworks
