Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced New Product Development (NPD) Engineer with 5-10 years of experience in the mechanical engineering field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in turning, VMC (Vertical Machining Center), HMC (Horizontal Machining Center), and VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe) machine processes, as well as expertise in tooling and fixture design. This role requires proficiency in NPD processes and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to successfully bring new products from concept to production.

Responsibilities:

New Product Development:

Lead the development of new products from concept to production, collaborating with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.

Process Evaluation:

Evaluate turning, VMC, HMC, and VTL machine processes for new product introduction. Assess the feasibility of machining operations and recommend appropriate machining strategies.

Tooling and Fixture Design:

Design and develop tooling and fixtures required for new product machining processes. Ensure tooling and fixtures are optimized for production efficiency and quality.

Prototype Development:

Coordinate the fabrication of prototypes for new products. Conduct testing and validation to verify product performance and functionality.

Cost Analysis:

Conduct cost analysis for new product development projects. Identify opportunities to optimize manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality.

Quality Assurance:

Work closely with the quality assurance team to establish quality standards and specifications for new products. Ensure that new products meet quality requirements and customer expectations.

Documentation:

Generate and maintain documentation related to new product development activities, including design specifications, process plans, and test reports.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement in new product development processes. Implement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce lead times, and improve overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 5-10 years of experience in new product development, preferably in a manufacturing environment with turning, VMC, HMC, and VTL machine processes. Strong knowledge of turning, VMC, HMC, and VTL machine processes, tooling, and fixture design. Experience in leading cross-functional teams in new product development projects. Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and machining programming. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail in new product development activities.
