A Network Support Specialist is an IT professional responsible for analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining network systems such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, and other data communication networks. Their goal is to ensure networks operate efficiently and with minimal interruption.
Core Responsibilities
Troubleshoot network incidents on LAN/MAN/WAN components from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, Checkpoint, etc.
Investigate and resolve recurring network issues.Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Monitor network performance, plan capacity, and optimize network configurations such as routing, firewall rules, VLANs, QoS, and load balancing.
Provide technical support to users and respond to service desk incident notifications.
Support installation, maintenance, and secure operation of network infrastructure including fiber optic and wireless communication.
Document network setups, changes, and maintenance procedures.Collaborate with senior network engineers and project teams to implement network projects.
Conduct network intrusion detection, incident response, and analyze malicious code in cybersecurity contexts.
Provide customer support and escalate complex issues as needed.May require after-hours support and on-call duties.
