Job Description

A Network Support Engineer designs, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots an organization's computer networks (LAN, WAN, cloud), ensuring security, performance, and uptime by configuring hardware (routers, switches, firewalls), resolving user issues, implementing security protocols, and documenting systems, with duties ranging from basic support to complex project management and system upgrades. Key Responsibilities: Network Maintenance & Support: Provide Tier 2/3 support, resolve complex connectivity issues, and perform routine upkeep. Configuration & Installation: Set up and manage network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software. Security Management: Implement and monitor security measures like firewalls, access controls, and intrusion prevention systems (IPS). Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Analyze network traffic, monitor performance, and tune systems for speed and reliability. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, changes, and procedures. Project Implementation: Support network upgrades, expansions, and integration of new technologies. User Training: Train staff on new systems and IT best practices. Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and procedures. Typical Duties: Responding to support tickets and troubleshooting hardware/software faults. Configuring VPNs, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS). Managing cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Collaborating with other IT teams (cybersecurity, systems). Conducting capacity planning and performance reporting. Skills & Qualifications: Proficiency with networking protocols and hardware. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of security best practices.
