Job Title Network Engineering - Specialist
Job Summary Role purpose
The Network Engineer within the Network Automation domain is forging the future for Telstra International by transforming work to highly engineered, automated and
integrated processes. As an individual contributor they work in with key networks, GBS and TE-I teams and stakeholders to define, design, build, deliver & maintain
complex and specialized automated engineering solutions. In this role, they will utilize and further develop their core engineering skills as well as their skills
and knowledge around automation solutions and based upon an Agile approach.
Responsibilities
As a Network Engineer, you draw on your breadth of knowledge and expertise in related areas of network engineering and actively apply agile and/or lean ways of working
to deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Translating customer needs and requirements, into realizable and commercially viable products, services, or systems and/or networks infrastructure.
  • Designing, testing, integrating and optimizing maintenance of specific complex network technologies, platforms and/or systems.
  • Contributing to ensuring that network components and systems interact with Telstra processes and systems to deliver market leading customer experiences. You do this
by using your expertise and experience of specific domain components to address related incidents, problems and upgrades to optimize network performance.
  • Contributing to assessing capability of vendor solutions and offerings to meet business requirements and assist in managing vendor performance and technology delivery.
  • Developing depth / advanced levels of knowledge over a current domain by engaging in continuous learning through formal development, coaching and seeking feedback.
  • Contributing to the development of technology guidelines and standards to be used by Chapter and/or business unit members in the design and deployment of network
technologies.
  • Using your sound interpersonal and influencing skills to authentically collaborate with mission or project team members and stakeholders to deliver defined work
objectives.
As a Network Specialist within the Network Automation & Transformation domain, you will:
  • Translate the business requirement and building the capability development on the Transport/Optical/Ethernet network.
  • Be responsible for solution definition and delivery within the Automation project, then into Business-as-Usual support, improvement, and adoption.
  • Evolve and broaden your understanding of core network and engineering standards & systems for managing service.
  • Utilize your core engineering knowledge and actively apply Agile ways of working as well and lean principles to articulate business engineering processes for automation.
  • Be prepared and undertake detailed research which could include prototypes and proof of concept validation.
  • Utilize business systems, engineering network management solutions as well as automation systems to enable outcomes.
  • Engage with others in the team and business to refine the roadmap for delivery of automation solutions.
  • Supporting the identifying and championing automation use cases.
  • Build and evolve relationships and inter-personal skills for ensuring stakeholders and appropriately engaged and managed throughout.
  • Work tirelessly to embed quality in deliverables and in automated process value generation & business benefits realization.
  • Both participate and manage where appropriate the Agile practices and cadences for development.
  • Work with suppliers to deliver outcomes from the software factory delivery model.
Participate in the Automation Development pathway for Engineers to build up this new skillset for International Engineering (advancing from top of list onwards)
  • Support solution definition and delivery.
  • Support the resolution of bugs and code related challenges.
  • Assume responsibility for delivery of one or more capabilities.
  • Develop code for automation platforms.
  • Support design and yang model definition.
  • Assume responsibility for the technical architecting of solutions (NSO)
  • Assume responsibility for the technical architecting of solutions (IAP)
