Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

The Nokia Network Management Automation team provides Professional Services in support of real-world deployments of Advanced Solutions across the ION (IP/Optical Networks) Business Line product portfolio. The team is seeking a Network Automation Solutions Developer to help deliver services to Nokia\'s customer base in the areas of Service Provisioning, Service Automation, Monitoring, and Reporting. Our projects are worldwide, and we interact with both the customer and R&D, Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers (internal/remotely/onsite) for requirement gathering and project deployments
  • Create high-level and detailed design , implementation, operational and test documentation
  • Develop software solutions encompassing specific functions, automation, or custom tools
  • Adhere to and contribute to the team\xe2\x80\x99s best practices and continual improvement initiatives
  • Deliver customized solution via a workshop and/or technical training to the customer
  • Provide support to customers integrating OSS systems with Nokia\'s Network Management products (SDWAN, Optical, IP)
  • Develop and optimize customer use case scenarios, workflow automation to allow customer day-to-day operations


Team Skill Set:
  • Bachelors or Masters in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Fluent English
  • 8+ years of working experience
  • Software Development proficiency in at least two software languages
    • JavaScript, Python, Core Java
  • General understanding of networking technologies and protocols (e.g., IP/MPLS/Ethernet, routing, network OAM)
  • Knowledge of and/or hands-on experience with web services and interfaces (e.g., SOAP, REST, YANG,NETCONF, Kafka)
  • Strong troubleshooting experience
  • Strong customer orientation and communications skills
  • Eagerness to learn software development, scripting languages and technologies
Advantage:
  • Knowledge of SDLC in an agile, waterfall, or DevOps environment
  • Experience with Java (OOP) Object Oriented Programming
  • Linux based Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of and/or hands-on experience with Virtualization, cloud providers, and containers technologies (e.g., VMWare/KVM)
  • Knowledge of database systems and hands on experience with SQL (e.g., Oracle, MySQL)
