Role Summary
The Network Administrator will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the college's IT infrastructure. The role involves maintaining the network, ensuring internet connectivity, supporting computer labs, managing user accounts, and assisting faculty, staff, and students with technical issues. The position provides exposure to both academic and administrative IT needs in a campus environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Support & Maintenance
Assist in installation, configuration, and monitoring of LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, and firewalls.
Troubleshoot connectivity issues and ensure smooth functioning of internet across departments and labs.
Support the implementation of network security policies (antivirus, firewalls, access controls).
System Administration
Assist in maintaining servers (Windows/Linux), user accounts, and email systems.
Support backup and recovery processes.
Maintain printer and peripheral connectivity across the campus.
Lab & Classroom IT Support
Provide technical support for computer labs, classrooms, and smart boards/projectors.
Ensure smooth functioning of software and tools required for teaching and research.
Coordinate with faculty for setup during practical exams, workshops, and seminars.
User Support (Helpdesk)
Attend to technical queries from students, faculty, and staff.
Install, configure, and update operating systems and application software.
Document and escalate issues to senior administrators when needed.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain IT asset inventory (systems, networking devices, software licenses).
Record network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting logs.
Assist in ensuring compliance with institutional IT policies.
Skills & Competencies
Basic knowledge of networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN.
Familiarity with Windows/Linux OS, Active Directory, MS Office, and Google Workspace.
Knowledge of firewalls, antivirus software, and data security basics.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to support non-technical users.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Diploma / B.Sc / BCA / B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Certifications (preferred):
CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent entry-level certifications.
