ESG solutions enable investors to develop and integrate responsible investing policies and practices, engage on responsible investment issues, and monitor portfolio company practices through screening solutions. It also provides climate data, analytics, and advisory services to help financial market participants understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks across all asset classes. In addition, ESG solutions cover corporate and country ESG research and ratings enabling its clients to identify material social and environmental risks and opportunities.
Overview
Net-zero commitments are gaining momentum in the financial industry, as the topic of climate change continues to be one of the key ESG themes for investors. Over 160 financial institutions, with $72.85 trillion assets under management, have joined various net-zero initiatives to date. Most notably, the members of the United Nations Race to Zero initiative, the largest ever alliance of businesses, cities, regions, and investors committed to achieving net-zero by 2050, represent nearly 25% of global CO2 emissions and over 50% of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP)
ISS ESG Climate Team is working closely with its clients to help them pledge, plan and proceed with their Net Zero Targets and is looking for passionate team members to work extensively on different aspects of Net Zero including but not limited to – research, data interpretation, methodology development, review corporate target settings, TCFD report writing and client support on these subjects; on day to day basis. The successful candidates will be part of ISS ESG Climate Solutions team which works on wide range of climate products and metrics for an ever-expanding investment universe.
Main Responsibilities

• 
  Research, review, and analysis of company disclosures (e.g. sustainability reports, annual reports) to evaluate companies' emission performance, alignment to regulatory regimes and target setting in context of Net Zero among other initiatives such as SBT, TCFD etc.
• 
  Ensure timely update and maintenance of target information and other relevant climate datapoints deemed necessary for upkeep of Net Zero products and services.
• 
  Contribute to data interpretation and methodology development around the net zero effort.
• 
  Support and lead client mandates on bespoke projects such as - Net Zero target setting, TCFD report writing.
• 
  Support colleagues within Sales and Client Relations teams in general and project specific client questions / concerns related to Net Zero products and services.
• 
  Support team with quantitative analysis and research on climate strategies of companies.
• 
  Identify opportunities and find creative approaches which enhance efficiency and streamline work and processes within Climate team and its workings.
• 
  Support improvement and maintenance of soft infrastructure to enable smooth sales of product package and post sales efforts for net zero products and services, including but not limited to process documentation, knowledge management, methodology upgrades and mapping enhancements
• 
  Contribute to ISS ESG Climate Solutions strategic thinking and decision making.

Qualifications

• 
  A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience relating to data or research; any experience in climate change data is bonus.
• 
  Bachelor’s degree. A relevant Master degree (example: environmental science, engineering, economics, quantitative finance, or an MBA with a sustainability focus) is highly desirable
• 
  Integrity, organizational skills, high attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
• 
  Excellent command of Excel and good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications
• 
  Strong research and analytical skills, ability to quickly process large amounts of data and information
• 
  Ability to conduct deep dive research based on client needs and process requirements
• 
  Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members
• 
  Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of Asian languages is a plus.
• 
  Willingness to work with a highly collaborative, flexible and innovative team across different locations
• 
  Experience with data extraction from SQL/noSQL Databases as well as using Python or R libraries for data analysis and visualization are an additional asset
• 
  Understanding of contemporary software development and collaboration practices are a plus
• 
  Regular work hours with slight flexibility to collaborate with colleagues and clients in different time zones
