- Nephrologist:
Position Title: Consultant Nephrologist
Department: Nephrology
Reports To: Medical Director
Location: Jabalpur Hospital & Research Centre
Position Summary
The Nephrologist will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with kidney-related diseases and disorders. The role involves providing comprehensive care in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings while ensuring adherence to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical Care:
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic kidney diseases.
Provide specialized care for conditions such as glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, renal failure, hypertension, and electrolyte disorders.
Manage patients requiring dialysis (hemodialysis & peritoneal dialysis) and oversee dialysis units.
Supervise and guide the initiation and management of renal replacement therapy.
Coordinate care for patients undergoing kidney transplantation (pre- and post-transplant care).
2. Patient Management:
Conduct OPD consultations and inpatient ward rounds.
Provide timely treatment and follow-up care.
Educate patients and families on preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and long-term disease management.
3. Dialysis Unit Responsibilities:
Oversee the functioning of the dialysis unit.
Supervise dialysis technicians and nursing staff.
Ensure infection control, quality standards, and patient safety protocols
4. Collaborative Care:
Work closely with other specialists (urologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, etc.) for multi-disciplinary patient management.
Participate in case discussions, clinical meetings, and hospital committees.
5. Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate medical records as per hospital policy.
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and statutory regulations.
Contribute to hospital quality initiatives and accreditation processes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: MD / DNB in General Medicine with DM / DNB in Nephrology from a recognized institution.
Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of post-specialization experience (fresh DM/DNB candidates may also be considered).
Licensing: Valid registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in nephrology.
Excellent patient communication and counseling skills.
Leadership ability to manage dialysis unit and team.
Commitment to ethical medical practice and patient-centered care.
Work Schedule:
OPD & IPD duties as per roster.
On-call responsibilities for emergencies and critical care cases.
Active participation in academic and hospital development programs.
