Job Description

The Neonatal ICU (NICU) Staff Nurse provides direct, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill and premature newborns in a Level II, III, or IV NICU setting. This role involves monitoring neonatal patients, supporting families, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes for vulnerable infants.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized nursing care to neonates requiring intensive medical attention, including ventilator and incubator support. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. Monitor vital signs and clinical status of neonates; promptly report changes to physicians or advanced practice providers. Administer medications, fluids, and blood products safely and according to protocols. Maintain and troubleshoot NICU equipment such as CPAP, ventilators, pulse oximeters, and infusion pumps. Support and educate families, providing emotional support and discharge teaching. Participate in neonatal resuscitation and other emergency interventions. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system. Adhere to infection control policies, safety guidelines, and clinical protocols. Attend and contribute to rounds, staff meetings, training, and continuing education sessions.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 - 8 years of nursing experience in a NICU
